It does take courage to make the call for that first counseling appointment. It is the first in step in finding solutions to life’s challenges. I understand what it is like to ask for help from a counselor. I first attended counseling when I was thirty. I needed help adjusting to being a brand-new single parent with three young children, an older college student and I still had to work. I was embarrassed and thought everyone in the waiting room thought I was there because I was “crazy.” I appreciated the counseling experience so much that I majored in Psychology with a Bachelor degree, a Masters in Counseling and finally, a PhD in Counseling Studies.

I am naturally accepting and non-judgmental because of my experience and training. My methods are based on your counseling needs. I specialize in anger management, substance abuse/alcohol use disorders, domestic violence (as a victim or perpetrator), aging issues, adjusting to major medical diagnoses and mood disorders, but treat all general mental health needs such as depression, anxiety and adjustment issues.

I am trained and experienced in many types of counseling methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing/Enhancement, Person-Centered, Gestalt, Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Intensive Oupatient, Forensic Counseling and am Trauma-Informed.

In my spare time I love camping, going on road trips, exploring New Mexico and spending time with my adult children and grandchildren.
